Tan Removal Treatment in Mumbai

What is Tanning?

Tanning is the process of increasing melanin (skin pigment) caused by exposure to sunlight. This is the body’s natural method of protecting the skin from UV rays.

Areas prone to tan are Face, Arms, Hands, Legs, Feet, Back, Neck.

Skin Tan Causes

When UVA rays penetrate the skin’s layers, they stimulate melanocytes (skin cells) to produce an excess of melanin (skin-darkening pigment). This darkens further as a result of oxidation and causes skin tanning.

Tan Removal Treatments

Sun tan harms the immune system and can cause additional skin damage and ageing. As a result, you must combat it with the appropriate tan removal treatments.

To exfoliate dead skin cells and wash away excess melanin, try one of the following treatments:

Chemical Peels: This type of tan removal treatment is used to remove the dead skin layers on the surface of the skin that have accumulated excess melanin. Glycolic acid, kojic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid are all used in chemical peels.

Laser – ND Yag: Lasers (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) are monochromatic coherent light sources with high intensities.

A dermatologist will use a laser to break down the melanin pigment and reduce skin tan.
When used on the skin, this light energy converts to heat energy, allowing it to target a specific chromophore (skin pigment-melanin) while causing no harm to the surrounding tissue. They penetrate the skin deeper layers to remove excess melanin.

Microdermabrasion: is a tan removal treatment that exfoliates dead skin cells containing excess melanin pigment. It encourages new cells to regenerate faster than they would normally. As a result, the skin appears firmer, more toned, and more youthful. There are two approaches:

  • Crystal Microdermabrasion: Through a wand, tiny particles are sprayed on your face.
  • Diamond-tip Microdermabrasion

Tan Removal Creams: The majority of tan removal creams in the market lighten the upper layers of the skin. A face tan removal cream or serum penetrates the skin’s deeper layers, inhibiting the enzymatic activities that cause melanin production.

How long does it take for a tan to go away after treatment?

Depending on the intensity of the tan, it takes 3-4 weeks for the suntan to fade away with the right skin tan removal treatment.
